Parasnath hill which is 4431 ft. height is the highest mountain south of the Himalayas. It is located at the latitude of 23 degree, 9 minutes north and longitude of 86 degree, 3 minutes east. It was made accessible since the construction of a road in 1838.
It is situated on a group of eight hills called the Parasnath Hills in Giridih, Jharkhand. The base of Sammed Shikharji is called Madhuvan because of the trees sprinkling with drops and crystals of Madhu (Honey) all around the bottom of the mountain.
Sammed Shikharji History
The oldest place to the hills as a holy place is establish in the Jantar Dharmakatha, one of the twelve texts constituting the canonical center of Jain literature. There the hills are explained as the place where Mallinatha, the nineteenth Jina, samadhi or meditative meditation.
This led to the name Sammed Śikhar, the ‘peak of concentration’, more generally and simply Shikharji, ‘the respected peak’. The importance of the Parasnath hills as a pilgrimage location and their connection with Parsvanath can be traced to the medieval period when suggestion to them was made in the Parsvanathacarita, the memoirs of Parsva that enjoyed currency from the 12th century.
The progress of the hills was most prospective prompted by the attractiveness of Vulture Peak in Bihar, the holy mountain related with the Buddha where his believer Sariputra and others are alleged to have attained explanation. Shri Shikharji attracts pilgrims from crossways India.

Day 7 – Rajgruhi – After breakfast proceed for Mahavirswamijis Golden Temple and Navlakha Temple, after Pooja proceed for Pahad Yatra (Shree Munisuvarath Swamijis four Kalyanaks). Day 8 – Rajgruhi – Lachhwada – Guniyaji – Rajgruhi – Early morning at 04:00hrs depart for Lachhwada by bus. (04Hrs). after reaching visit for Mahavirswamijis Darshan. After breakfast (on your own) visit Shatriyakund Pahad Yatra, birth place of Shree Mahavir Swami, proceed for holy Bath, Rituals and Pooja, Darshan at Mountain Taletima Chhavan, Diksha Kalyanaks Darshan. Return back for Lunch and proceed by bus to Guniyaji (03hrs). After reaching visit Shree Gautamswamijis Kevalgynan Bhumi, after Darshan proceed to Rajgruhi by Bus (1 ½ Hrs). Day 9 – Rajgruhi – Kundalpur – Nalanda – Pavapuri – Rajendranagar– After breakfast proceed to Kundalpur by Bus (30mins). After reaching visit Gautamswamis Birth place, Mandir and Darshan. Later visit the world famous Nalanda University and then proceed to Pavapuri (01hr).
